Though some people considering finding the right waterbed sheet set a challenge, it doesn’t have to be. They are many different products of various materials on the market, in nearly every store that carries bedding and bath supplies.

There are waterbed sheet sets in flannel, for those who enjoy softness and warmth. Flannel is usually very breathable as well, so it may be used in warm weather. Regardless of which fabric you select, you should always make sure they are waterbed sheets and not simply a traditional style.

These products are specially designed with a pocket on each corner of the fitted bottom piece, which will slide under the corners of the mattress, using the weight of the water to keep them in place. The top and bottom pieces are typically sewn together at the bottom of both, to help keep them in place. Some brands use elastic bands that run from one side of the corner to the other. They give with movement of the mattress, while using the weight to keep it from sliding out of the corner.

Some brands contain wooden poles that slide through a pocket sewn into the corner flaps. When placed in the corners, the poles adhere to the wood frame of the bed, to keep it in place until it needs to be removed.  Through most retailers or discount stores, a water bed sheet set costs no more than those for traditional beds.

Like other bedding options, you should select products that have a high enough thread count to feel good against your skin and keep you comfortable. You should also make sure that you are purchasing the correct size. If you also need a comforter or top cover, you should consider buying sets designed for these beds. You can often get them at a lower cost by purchasing the set, rather than by buying them individually.

Many products will contain sizing when they are purchased. This is used to help in the dyeing and sewing process. It can feel a bit stiff, so the bedding you select should always be washed before the first use, to keep you comfortable through the night.

While you can find a king waterbed sheet set, queen and super single at specialty stores that sell the beds, you may end up paying more. Such stores are not in business to sell linens. They offer the accessories for convenience. You will usually find discount waterbed sheets elsewhere.
